About

My main focus is architecture, specifically at night. I've always loved working with balancing the light sources, exposure settings and focal depth to create color spaces with the shapes provided by a city. To me, seeing lights and shadows through the eyes of a lens instead of just peering at it with the naked eye gives you something that you'd never be able to see without cameras. I like those aspects of photography. Macro, high-speed, and long-exposure are the greatest gifts of photography. I chose long-exposure to be my passion.

I took my first night-time photo with a professional camera over a decade ago. I chose digital photography in 2004, over 35mm. The costs of development was simply too high to continue to perfect night-time photography. The lessons I learned from film were simple; plan all your shots carefully, take precise aim and focus, and use a still-cable/remote trigger. Everything else is play time and, on digital, I love it.

For the record: None of my night-time architecture shots are doctored in Photoshop. I plan the lighting and exposure VERY carefully, so I don't have to. Not to discount photographers with great Photoshop skills, I merely use that tool for my work, and this is my hobby.
