Photography in Focus

The focus of Series 2 is geometry and color; as captured over the years from 2005 to August 2007.

I've always loved geometry and lines, but with this series, I wanted to create compositions that expressed that, in its entirety, and portray the division, intersection, layers, and structures in life through cityscapes.

Colors... I'll be evolving the color elements and experiments as the years go on, but this latest release, I've really learned how to get the color I'm looking for when looking at the frame. As I've mentioned in my blog, every object, every light source, and the exposure, all relate back to the colors you will see when the picture is being taken.

Night landscapes aren't always the easiest, especially when you have only one light source, namely the moon. The dark mystery of the night is intriguing as much as it is unnerving. Unlike cityscapes at night, landscapes pose a different dynamic of obstacles to get passed, and all the color balance I have for the city, never applies, which leads to really vibrant shots with 6 minute exposures in the wilderness.

I admit, the actual act of taking photos of landscape, surrounded by shadows, and the sounds of crickets and frogs is more cause for my outing than the resulting photography; but at the same time, I believe that intrigue and desire for the night environment is translated to through the lens to my shots.
